This version of our simulator has been launched to support the requirement for SV-ECS/Radar Training in the sub 24m workboat market to adhere to the requirements of Workboat Code 3.
Key features of this simulator version:
- Various versions of the training simulator version are available:
- Desktop Pods – comprising a Raymarine Axiom2 16” SV-ECS unit and a Raymarine Axiom2 16” Radar screen driven by the simulator’s PC with ‘out of vessel’ view on the touchscreen monitor. Control through touchscreen on the Axioms and touchscreen on the monitor in addition to keyboard and mouse control.
- Classroom/Exhibition Pod – similar arrangement to the Desktop Pods but contained in a larger classroom/exhibition type pod. Can contain larger Axioms and also integrate to Raymarine’s ECDIS controllers. Output of all screens to larger screens for greater student interaction with multiple display options also available.
- Remote access – instead of physical Pods access the full SV-ECS, Radar and ‘out of boat’ view functionality from a browser from anywhere in the world. Access packages can be created to address specific needs ranging from purchasing training hours to dedicated instances per company allowing unscheduled and unlimited use.
- All versions contain a ‘live’ Raymarine SV-ECS unit allowing use of 100% of the functionality of the SV-ECS system.
- All versions contain an Axiom radar simulation allowing use of 100% of the core functions of an Axiom radar.
- All versions represent ENCs and radar imagery through into the vessel’s displays within the simulator.
- All versions contain detailed imagery of the operating area and accurate radar representation of all features in the operating area. Users can request their own operating area if required.
- All versions contain a series of pre-configured exercises to develop student competence and confidence across a range of SV-ECS and radar unit tasks. Exercises can be adapted to specific users training needs.
- All versions allow users to choose the most relevant vessel to ‘helm’ from pilot vessels, tugs, fishing vessels, military and law enforcement vessels and USVs. Users can request their own vessel modelled to replicate exact interior layout with dials and gauges reflecting boat operation.
- All versions contain multiple vessels transiting the operating area which use AI to adjust their speed and track to always interact as planned with student vessels.
Options include:
- Own operating area to including charts for the area and detailed shoreline either via online imagery or imported actual footage.
- Own vessels – interior and exterior – created from FBX or STEP files.
- Own exercises to address specific training needs of the organisation.
- Assessment of student activity by AI engine to ‘mark’ student activity. API can output results to Learning Management Systems, PowerBI etc.
- Raymarine Axiom2 running Lighthouse charts instead of the SV-ECS solution with ENCs.
Who is the Raymarine SV-ECS/Radar Training Simulator training solution aimed at?
- Workboat operators who have installed SV-ECS solutions who appreciate the need to develop, consolidate and refresh the skills of their Skippers and Crew in the operation of SV-ECS and all aspects of radar. Such training will then meet the requirements of Workboat Code 3 in terms of proving the ongoing training and development of personnel.
- Training centres wishing to deliver SV-ECS/Radar training to their clients either at their own centre or at a client’s base.
- Training centres wishing to deliver the MCA Small Ships Navigation & Radar course using the Raymarine SV-ECS solution rather than other simulators. NOTE: As of June 2026 we are seeking such approval from the MCA.
- USV operators seeking a highly relevant model to support operators running USVs whether remotely controlled or autonomous.
Pricing is subject to the specific user‘s specific needs in terms of the type of solution (physical or remote) and the user specific development needed. Our process is to establish your particular requirements and then propose a training solution that may focus on physical pods, a remote access solution or some combination of the two. Contact us via our contact page to arrange a more detailed discussion. Depending on your location we are happy to bring our demonstration set-up to your offices so you can experience the set-up first hand or you can visit us in Dorset, UK.
The radar element of the simulator has all the functionality as outlined in the page for the RYA Radar Course version of the simulator except PIs as these are not present in Raymarine’s Axiom radar product. Users can though switch between the Raymarine and Generic radar interfaces to access this feature during training.
