Maritime Professional Development UK Launches New SV-ECS and Radar Simulator at Seawork 2026
Innovative training solution developed in partnership with Raymarine supports the growing sub-24m workboat sector
Following the success of its award-winning maritime simulation technology, Maritime Professional Development UK (MPDUK) will return to Seawork 2026 to unveil an innovative new training solution designed specifically for the sub-24m workboat market.
Building on the company’s Seawork Innovation Award-winning simulator platform, MPDUK has partnered with Raymarine to develop a new SV-ECS and Radar Simulator that enables operators to train skippers and crew in the effective use of Raymarine’s advanced SV-ECS and radar systems.
Available in both PC-based and cloud-based formats, the simulator integrates a fully functioning SV-ECS unit into a realistic virtual environment. The simulator allows users to develop their competence and confidence in the use of the SV-ECS and radar systems both before stepping onboard, as a core part of their CPD and as part of the ongoing assessment of their continued competence. The system combines real-world navigation and collision avoidance scenarios, varying visibility conditions and live radar targets, while replicating the operating areas in which vessels work.
The solution has been designed to support fleet operators introducing Raymarine’s SV-ECS technology across their vessels, helping crews maximise the functionality of onboard systems promoting safe and effective navigation practices.
Pete Buckle, Director of Maritime Professional Development UK, said:
“The level of realism and relevance we’ve been able to bring with this version of the simulator is essential for operators keen to ensure their Skippers and Crew make full use of the exceptional functionality of the Raymarine SV-ECS and Radar solutions. Training in a realistic, virtual environment plays a massive part in developing safe practices and safe operations.”
Richard Marsden, UK & Ireland Sales Manager at Raymarine, added:
“Training is a key part of every organisation, so we are delighted that with this simulator solution we can marry the functionality of Raymarine’s products with a simulator that develops and enhances the user’s ability to make the most of our SV-ECS and radar solutions, both key solutions for the workboat market.”
