Professional cloud based maritime simulation for sub 24m craft.

MPD UK was founded to enhance the availability of maritime simulation products for the sub 24m vessel market.

Whilst there are plenty of simulators around for large ships the options for smaller vessels are very limited. As a means to enhance the safety of small boat operations the simulator we’ve created has been based on the radar and chartplotter functionality found in the sub 24m market. Being cloud based affords the user access to the simulator from work and home and offers a highly cost effective solution.

Those involved in the development of the simulator include individuals holding sub 24m commercial skipper qualifications, Instructors qualified as MCA Small Ships Navigation & Radar Instructors and those teaching RYA Motor Cruising, Powerboat and Sail Cruising courses. The simulator embraces game technology ensuring an unrivalled experience.

The first two products we have brought to market are:

A RYA Radar Course simulator to support instructors teaching RYA Radar Courses. The simulator is approved by the RYA for use on this course.

A Harbour Training simulator for VTS operations seeking to train, assess and upskill harbour pilots, pilot coxswains, commercial operators and those requiring Pilot Exemption Certificates (‘PECs’).

The third aspect to the use of the simulator is to sit the simulator at the heart of the ‘Skipper’s CPD & Assessment Module’ which we are presently building for launch during the latter stages of 2025.

Whilst these are the three current strands to the MPD UK business we are presently also exploring some bespoke uses for the simulator. The simulator can be evolved to address any training need with the MFD functionality and design adjusted to marry it to any organisation’s setup. The vessels appearing in the simulator can be varied to match an individual user’s needs.

The products we have created operate in the cloud running on secure (‘AWS‘) Amazon Web Services servers to maximise uptime and ensure servers are available worldwide to facilitate rapid access.
